I Love My S2k

I Love cars, of all makes and models, i love learning about them. They fascinate me!
I drive a Honda s2000. I have been dumping paycheck after paycheck into it! My list never end. the whole cars shell has been completely replaced with carbon fiber, a fiberglass type material that is stronger than steel but lighter than a feather. But you knew that.. The engine mods are endless and the interior is overwhelming. The car also has great gas mileage, since it is supercharged the air is atomized, further improving my gas mileage. I think i have a problem, more like an addiction! I can never find an end to the things i can do to my baby.

Am I Alone???

Okay... this is a stupid non-car person question: why would you change out the body for a fiberglass one? Inquiring mind wants to know!

[My first car: a bombed out chevy malibu. The floor rusted out and the front seat fell out the bottom of the car as I was driving home from college for the holidays...].

I get that guys like to dumps almost all their money into cars and at least you have a nice car to make additions to. It's so disheartening to see a top-of-the-line boise stereo system in a junked up early 90s toyota, or something like that. But think about this. In five, six years when you have a higher paying job and you can afford a better car, you're going to want to sell your car. You're going to want to get back what you put in, but you won't car depreciate the moment you drive them and you're wonderful accoutrements you've spent thousands of dollars on, won't be worth more than a couple hundred. Not that I can't relate. I like the high-end models. I want the leather seats, automatic everything, nice stereo, OnStar, GPS, blah blah blah. But in the long run we're really just paying for the luxury of comfort and bragging rights.

To answer the first question, it’s not fiberglass it’s actually Carbon Fiber which is an "un-tear-able" fabric with 2 different weaves. When resin is applied to the fabric and it is pressed into Any mold the final product is "carbon Fiber. It’s lighter than a feather (literally) and stronger than steel (literally). I will upload a picture of the Carbon fiber on my car onto my Blog

Ligter = faster

Obviously

This is a Reply to Desert Penguin, you are totally right, it’s all about bragging right and mainly for me its speed, which can be traced right down to bragging rights again. I have 3 jobs in order to pay for this car.
The one thing you were wrong about is about getting my money back out of the car, I actually will, because carbon fiber is so rare and difficult to make and mold and I had it don’t in my friend’s garage. Minus the material cost $1000, I should be able to come out on top if I were trying to resell, carbon fiber resells for a ridiculous cost especially wet 2x2 weave like I have.

I hope you understand my car "language"
